 ​In Cape May City, beach tags are required for individuals aged 12 and older to access the beaches during the summer season. Specifically, beach tags are necessary from Memorial Day Weekend through Labor Day, between the hours of 10:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., when lifeguards are on duty . Children 11 and under can enjoy the beach without a tag.​ 

• Seasonal Tag: $40 per person; valid for the entire season.
• Weekly Tag: $25; valid from Saturday to Saturday (8 days).
• 3-Day Tag: $20; valid for any three consecutive days.
• Daily Tag: $10; valid for a single day

You can purchase your beach tags:

•  In Person: Available at the Beach Tag Headquarters (704 Beach Avenue) and promenade kiosks located at Howard, Gurney, Madison, and Broadway.  
• Online: Tags can be ordered through the City of Cape May's website or via Jersey Cape Tags

Beachfront meters are in effect every day from April 1 – October 31 from 10am to 10pm

 The Cape May Beach Patrol protects the beaches from The Cove to Poverty Beach from 10am – 5pm from July 1 through Labor Day. Lifeguards respond to water and medical emergencies. There are always several NJ Department of Health certified EMTs on duty in the summertime.

Yes! You have the option to take your car on the ferry or choose to be a walk-on passenger. Rates and availability can be found on the Cape May Lewes Ferry website at www.cmfl.com

During the summer, Cape May City offers free shuttle service around town. The shuttles hold 13 passengers each, are ADA compliant, have air conditioning, and run on natural gas. The two shuttles drive the same route, but in opposite directions for efficiency! You'll find "shuttle stop" signs on both sides of the street to indicate pick-up spots.
